Fitness and Nutrition Coaching for the Whole Person
A science-based approach!
About Holistic Training
Holistic training is a science-based, holistic approach to training and nutrition. It takes into account the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of each person to provide individualized programming that is optimal for their goals.
This expanded view of Holistic Training rejects the reductionist view that health is merely a product of biology, physics, and chemistry and treats the human body as a dynamic system. Instead of seeing a client as a machine where you simply "input" calories and "output" muscle, we recognize that results emerge from a complex web of interacting forces.
By giving equal weight to biological, psychological, and social dimensions, this approach recognizes that a client’s progress is often dictated by environmental "constraints" rather than just physical effort. For a working mother, for example, the social support of a partner or friend is a critical variable that transforms "lack of time" from a barrier into a manageable factor, allowing for the consistent physical activity necessary for results.
My name is Charlotte Lake, owner of Holistic Training. I began my years of experience with exercise and fitness as a student athlete in high school where I developed a passion for resistance training and its applications to sport. I went on to graduate from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology, an interdisciplinary field that studies the science of human movement.
I have used my accumulated knowledge in my over 12 years of experience teaching people of all ages and abilities how to swim and as a competitive swim coach. I am currently certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer and nutrition coach. I also make it a point to stay current on the most recent and relevant exercise science to provide the most effective programming available.
As a firm believer in continuing education, I have continued to expand my skills and knowledge after my studies at Arizona State University in a variety of scientific and philosophical fields to develop my own personal approach to fitness and nutrition. Over time, I have come to appreciate the benefits of a holistic approach that takes into account all the different aspects of an athlete including their biology, psychology, and social life.

What Our Clients Say
I worked with Charlotte at holistic training for 6 month. She worked extensively with me on my fitness goals and we worked on a training plan I could do at my own gym. As I suffer from vertigo doing certain strength based workouts became difficult and she worked with me to find alternative exercises.
There is definitely a benefit to a structured workout with 1:1 consultation over using an app on your phone :)
